About FN Five-Seven

The FN Five-seven, is a semi-automatic pistol, that is trademarked as the Five-seveN, designed and manufactured by the FN Herstal. The pistol is a lightweight polymer-based weapon with a quite large maximum magazine capacity of 20 rounds and ambidextrous controls.

One of the biggest advantages of the Five-seven is low recoil and also the ability to penetrate body armor when using certain cartridges. It’s also known as the "cop killer." Its nickname Five-seven was reported as a cultural phenomenon by Wired and also many others, tested also by the Brady campaign and this model get a nickname "Risk to Police Officers." The Belgian FN Herstal designed the Five-seveN as a complimentary sidearm for the model P90, submachine-gun.

The FN 5.7 and the P90 share the same type of 5.7x28mm ammunition and also the SS190 cartridge. The SS190 ammunition looks exactly like scaled down 5.56mm NATO round. It boosts the 2.02 gramm pointed aluminium and steel core bullet to the muzzle velocity of 650 meters per second. The key idea of this ammunition and weapons is to provide great penetration against personnel and protected by modern body armour, while keeping weight of weapons, recoil, dimensions at the reasonable levels. Five-seven is a blowback operated pistol. Accessory rail is under barrel and the model featured a polymer frame.

There are available two versions of the pistol: either Five-seveN standard, aimed mostly for military use or Five-seveN Tactical, intended mostly for Law Enforcement use. Both models are ideal for those who carry handguns as a primary weapons. The only difference between the Standard and the Tactical models is the trigger type. The Five-seveN standard has double action trigger with long trigger pull and no external safeties, The Five-seveN Tactical has a single action trigger with short and light trigger pull and ambidextrous safety switch, which is located on the frame above the trigger. Both alternatives are striker fired, also with internal firing pin safety. The sights are fixed on the frame, with optional night si Type: semi automatic
